About Me

I am an abstract painter living in the Washington, DC suburbs. I started painting seriously a few years ago but have always been creative. I won my first art award for my “friends with animals poster” back in 3rd grade. I won $3 and my poster hung at city hall for a month. It was a huge deal back in elementary school.
For the last 20 years or so, I have been busy raising my two incredible sons and that took up most of my free time. But now they are young men on their own and I found myself with all of this time on my hands. I started painting floorcloths and sold them on my website, and at local shows but gave up painting floorcloths a few years ago. About 3 years ago, I began painting on canvas and started creating collages. I can’t image spending my free time doing anything else.
If I have learned anything over the last couple of years, its that the process is what is important, not the outcome. Everyone thinks that an artist should be concerned with what the painting will look and feel like at the end but the process of creating is what is actually the most important and the most enjoyable part. Getting into what I call the “zone” where time actually ceases to exist.
I don’t always love the outcome but I always love the process. This is why I keep painting and why I love it so much.
